A police inspector identified as Clement and assigned to the Special Intelligence Response Team (IRT) of the Police Inspector General is dead. Clement died when the vehicle in which he and his colleagues were traveling had a solo accident on Wukari Road in Ibi, Taraba state.
JessyNaija newspaper report that the operatives, who used a white Toyota Hiace bus with the registration number (Abuja) BP222RSH, had gone to Ibi to arrest more suspects linked to the kidnapping of the boss, Alhaji Hamisu Bala, also known as Wade.
The eight-man team, led by the Assistant Superintendent of Police, James Bawa, had arrested the suspects and they were headed to Wukari. It was deduced that one of the rear tires exploded, causing a somersault.
Four other police officers and the five suspects suffered severe injuries and are being treated at a state hospital. Force public relations officer Frank Mba, police commissioner, said he had not received details of the incident.
Meanwhile, the report of the panel created by the military is expected to investigate the murder of police soldiers who are part of the team that previously arrested Wadume.
The panel consisted of the Chief of Defense Staff, General Gabriel Olonisakin, following a directive from President Muhammadu Buhari. Wadume had confessed that the Army took him to his base and his wives were taken away by the efforts of a welder before escaping after his initial arrest by the police.
